House fire displaces family of 4

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A fire in the Deep Creek area displaced a family of four from their home Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to the scene in the 3000 block of Sir Meliot Drive at 4:12 p.m., according to Division Chief S. J. Gulisano, with the Chesapeake Fire Department.

At the scene about five minutes later, crews found smoke emitting from a single-story home. Gulisano said the fire was brought under control at 4:28 p.m. Firefighters were able to keep the flames contained to a utility area, but there was smoke and water damage done to other areas of the home.

No one was injured. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
