CANTON, OH (WAVY) – The all-time leading passer in Old Dominion history got his first NFL reps in primetime on Sunday Night Football. Taylor Heinicke played every second-half snap of the Minnesota Vikings’ 14-3 preseason win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Hall of Fame Game.
Heinicke, who capped of ODU career last November, completed 7-of-10 passes for 51 yards. He was also sacked twice and threw what will go down in the stat book as an interception, but one he put right on target. On third-and-six, Heinicke delivered a chest-high strike right into the hands of former Packers tight end Brandon Bostic, who looked to have the first down if he held on.
Instead, Bostic bobbled the pass and it was intercepted by Pittsburgh’s Kevin Fogg.
Heinicke will get another chance to play on Saturday when the Vikings take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
