Rep. Bobby Scott to host forums on criminal justice reform

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Rep. Bobby Scott is hosting two forums this week on criminal justice reform.

Scott’s office says the first forum is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church Imani Center in Richmond. Another forum will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at The Murray Center in Norfolk.

Law enforcement officials, judges and other criminal justice experts will participate in the forums.

Scott plans to discuss legislation that he introduced earlier this summer with Wisconsin Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner. Scott’s office says the legislation will reduce recidivism, increase the use of alternatives to incarceration and save money.
