Roller coaster evacuated at Busch Gardens

JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) – Roller coaster riders at Busch Gardens were stuck on a ride Sunday for almost 30 minutes because of a malfunction.

Spokesman for Busch Gardens, Kevin Crossett, confirmed one of the safety measures along the tracks of the Verbolten ride tripped, causing one of the trains to stop around 6:40 p.m.

Staff members removed riders and shut down Verbolten. No one was hurt.

No word on what the specific problem was, but Crossett said engineers figured out what happened and are working to fix it.
