VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Police issued an appeal to the public Monday in their search for an 11-year-old missing girl. She was found safe late Monday night.
Zya Carr’s godmother called police around 3 p.m. She told them they had an argument and Zya ran away from her home in the 5700 block of Earnhardt St.
Zya used to live in Norfolk and has only been living with her godmother in the Brandon area of Virginia Beach for about a month. Police said Zya was not believed to be in any danger, but notified the public because of her young age.
At 11:15 p.m., police said Zya’s godmother contacted them to report her safe return home.
Officer P.C. D’Orio said the incident is still under investigation by the Detective Bureau.
