Riding lawnmower intentionally set on fire at Suffolk home

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a case of arson after investigators say someone intentionally set a riding lawnmower on fire.

On Wednesday, around 5:32 p.m., police and fire crews responded to a residence in the 4900 block of Townpoint Road.

Investigators say a riding lawnmower inside a detached garage at the home had been set on fire. Firefighters were able to remove the lawnmower from the garage and extinguish the flames. There was no structural or other damage to the residence.

The adult female tenant was ground transported to Sentara Obici Hospital for evaluation.

No further information has been released.
