HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — The eastbound lanes of Interstate 64 at the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel were closed Tuesday afternoon while crews cleaned a fuel leak inside the tunnel.
Virginia State Police said a vehicle and tractor-trailer crashed at 12:51 p.m. A driver of a Saturn Scion lost control, struck the wall then crossed into the right lane, striking a tractor-trailer, according to State Police. Neither driver was injured, but the fuel tank on the tractor-trailer ruptured, causing a leak on the roadway.
VDOT closed the eastbound lanes at the HRBT to clean up the leak. The scene was cleared and the tunnel was reopened to traffic around 3 p.m.
