York County investigators arrest 2 after burglaries

YORK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) – York and Poquoson investigators arrested two people Thursday in connection to a string of burglaries and thefts.

Jerry Jorgenson Jr., 40, of Cape May, New Jersey and Desiree Sangillo, 39, of Villas, New Jersey were arrested and face multiple charges. Jorgenson is charged with three counts of burglary, 12 counts of grand larceny and one count of felony damage to property. Sangillo is charged with three counts of felony possession of stolen property and three misdemeanor counts of larceny by false pretense.

The areas where the crimes occurred include a residential burglary June 28 on the 300 block of Old Landing Road and two storage units burglaries between July 1 – 4 at the Public Storage business on the 7400 block of Route 17.

The items stolen included utility trailers, generators, power tools, hand tools, lawn mowers, jewelry and other items of value.

York Poquoson Sheriff’s investigators and Newport News Police detectives conducted a joint investigation into the burglaries and thefts.

Additional charges are pending once the inventory of thousands of dollars of recovered stolen property is completed.
