Vehicle crashed in Norfolk while attempting to elude police

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Norfolk police say a vehicle crashed after eluding police during a traffic stop Thursday.

Officer Daniel Hudson with Norfolk police said an officer was in his patrol car and observed a vehicle run a stop sign near the 3800 block of Larkin Street in Norfolk, around 1:35 p.m.

The officer attempted to stop the vehicle but the vehicle picked up speed, crashed into a fence and struck a parked car, said Hudson. Two people then fled the suspect vehicle.

Both were caught and the 21-year-old driver was charged with felony eluding, disregarding a stop sign and driving while having a suspended license. The passenger was not charged.

No one was inside the parked car and there were no injuries reported.
