NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon knocked out the power for more than 2,000 customers in Norfolk.
A car hit a utility pole on Tidewater Drive around 3:15 p.m., according to Bonita Billingsley Harris, with Dominion Virginia Power. There were no injuries, according to Norfolk police.
All southbound lanes were shut down for about two hours.
The power outage initially affected 2,268 customers. Harris said it took crews a while to get to the heart of the problem, and then they had to replace the pole. Service was restored to 974 customers by 5:30 p.m. and everyone else by 7:50 p.m.
