NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Firefighters say no one was injured after fire crews were called out to P.B. Young Sr. Elementary School in Norfolk early Wednesday morning.
Norfolk Fire Department Battalion Chief said crews were called shortly after 10 a.m. to the school located in the 500 block of E. Olney Road.
When crews arrived, they reported smoke inside the building. Dispatchers said flames were also seen and the fire was put out shortly after.
According to the Norfolk Public Schools site, the last day of school for students was June 18. Public Relations Coordinator Karen Tanner with Norfolk Public Schools the summer camp at the school is in operation and remains in normal operation.
The incident is under investigation.
