HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Ten people were displaced by a residential fire in Hampton overnight.
Crews responded to the 1100 block of Victoria Avenue around 12:20 a.m. Wednesday. Firefighters found heavy flames and smoke at the rear of a three-story house. It took them about 20 minutes to extinguish the fire.
Assistant Fire Chief Maurice Wilson said residents were at home at the time the fire started, and they called 911. There were no injuries.
Fire investigators determined the fire was accident, caused by an electrical malfunction in a wall in storage closet.
Hampton Fire Division officials said the American Red Cross was requested to help the displaced residents.
