Armed robbery suspect demands victim buy him Red Bull

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Newport News police have arrested a man accused of robbing another man at gunpoint outside a 7-Eleven and attempting to steal his vehicle.

Officers were called out to the 7-Eleven located at 15600 Warwick Blvd., shortly after 2 a.m. Tuesday. The victim told police he had just pulled into the parking lot when he was approached by a man at his driver side window. The suspect implied he had a gun and demanded money from the victim. He then demanded the victim go inside the store and buy him a Red Bull.

While inside, the victim noticed the suspect had attempted to take his vehicle, but the keys were not in the ignition. Police say the suspect exited the vehicle and went inside the store and demanded the victim give him the keys.

The suspect eventually fled with the victim’s wallet which contained $15.

Officers found the suspect walking in the area of Ashbury Church on Warwick Blvd. and a short foot pursuit ensued. The suspect was eventually detained.

Ronnie Tynes was charged with one count of robbery, one count of abduction, one count of use of a firearm in commission of a felony and one count of attempted grand larceny auto.
