Elizabeth City Police investigate Cook Out shooting

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WAVY) – Elizabeth City Police is looking for suspects involved in an early morning shooting Saturday at a fast food restaurant.

Police are looking for Deroca Moshun Johnson, 36, of the 100 block of Parker’s Lane, Elizabeth City and Lavelle Sinclair Dinkins, 19, of the 300 block of Queen Street, Elizabeth City.

Police received reports of shots fired after a fight broke out before 2:22 a.m. in a Cook Out restaurant at 912 West Ehringhaus Street involving four men. Two of the men in the fight ran outside and around the corner of the building. Witnesses reported hearing four gunshots from the other side of the building, followed by four additional gunshots.

The two other males in the fight fled the scene in a green-colored newer model Chevrolet SUV. Shortly after, the gunshot victim was seen walking on the grassy area of the restaurant property where he laid down by the bushes.Restaurant patrons tended to the victim until medical services arrived.

The victim is listed in fair condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

The shooter is described as a black male wearing a long sleeve dark shirt and tan shorts.

Johnson and Dinkins have outstanding warrants for assault inflicting serious bodily injury.
