UVA-bound pitcher leads Hickory back to state tournament

CHESAPEAKE (WAVY) – Connor Eason has been watching the University of Virginia make its miraculous run back to the College World Series. The Hickory High School senior said he was “screaming in (his) living room” when Ernie Clement hit the walk-off single that sent the Wahoos back to Omaha.

The Hawks’ dominant left-handed pitcher hopes to have a few memories like that himself when he suits up for the Cavaliers next season. First, he’ll try and help his team win back-to-back rings. Hickory won the 5A state crown last season, and have since rolled through the conference and region tournaments to make it back.
