Armed suspect robs Portsmouth convenience store

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Portsmouth police are investigating a late-night robbery by an armed suspect.

Detective Misty Holley said the robbery happened around 8:25 p.m. at the Big Apple Food Mart on Twin Pines Road.

The suspect was armed with a handgun and demanded money from the convenience store clerk. Holley said the clerk complied, and the suspect left without injuring anyone.

The suspect is described as a black male who stood approximately 5’7” tall and weighed between 160-180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, black baseball cap and a black bandanna covering his face.
