SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Suffolk police say a woman was injured after crashing into a utility pole on Carolina Road, Tuesday morning.

Crews were dispatched to the single vehicle accident in the 800 block of Carolina Road, around, 8:32 a.m. Police say the Toyota Forerunner left the roadway, struck the pole and came to rest in a ditch.

The woman had to be extricated from the vehicle, but suffered non-life threatening injuries. She has been charged with reckless driving.

Carolina Road near the southwest Suffolk bypass was blocked both northbound and southbound due to downed power lines across the roadway and the involved vehicle. The roadway reopened just after 3 p.m. once Dominion Virginia Power completed the necessary repairs.
