Norfolk police seek suspect after homicide

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Norfolk police confirm they are investigating a homicide Wednesday evening, and looking for a suspect who got away.

Dispatchers got a 911 call around 6:30 p.m. for a gunshot victim in the 2400 block of Ballentine Boulevard. Responding officers found 23-year-old Justin Jamison with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Residents told they heard 10 to 12 gunshots at the time. Some people on the block even witnessed the shooting, including many children who were playing basketball at the nearby court. WAVY News’ Liz Palka spoke to a 13-year-old and 9-year-old, with permission of their parents, who said the shooting took place on the front porch of a residence.

“I don’t think there was anything he did to deserve that,” said a resident, who didn’t want to be identified. “Like, that’s not fair to his family standing over there watching him on the ground. That could have been my brother, my son, anybody.”

Detectives describe the suspect as an African American man dressed in all black — anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP℠.
