Suffolk crews put out grass fire at landfill

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Suffolk fire-rescue crews put out flames at the Southeastern Public Service Authority Regional Landfill Friday afternoon.

The fire started around 12:45 p.m. and spread across five acres along the back west side of the landfill, which sits on Bob Fuller Drive. Suffolk city spokesman Tim Kelley said crews had the fire under control by 1:37 p.m. No one was injured.

The Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office is still investigating the cause of the fire.
