Portsmouth cell phone store robbed

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Portsmouth Police Department is investigating an armed robbery Sunday on the 3200 block of High Street.

Police received the call at 1:16 p.m. requesting assistance at Metro PCS. According to detectives, the suspect entered the store, displayed a silver handgun and demanded money from the employees. The employees complied with the demand and the suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5 foot 11 to 6 foot 1, wearing black pants, a gray hooded sweatshirt, a white T-shirt and white shoes.

Anyone with information about this incident or who can identify the suspect pictured in the photographs or video is asked to call the Portsmouth Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. Callers are never asked to give their name or required to testify in court. If the caller’s tip leads to an arrest, the recovery of drugs or stolen property, they could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
