Apartments condemned after car strikes building

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – An apartment building in Hampton was condemned after a car struck it early Sunday morning.

According to a news release from the Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue, around 1 a.m. a car struck a building at the John Abbitt Apartments at 3605 Kecoughtan Road. The driver of the car left the scene before police and fire crews arrived.

The crash caused significant damage to the building and three apartments were condemned by building officials, the release said.

Only one person was in an apartment at the time of the crash and she was not injured.

Hampton Police are investigating the crash.
