Suffolk Police investigate early morning moped accident

Suffolk Police investigate a moped accident on Pinner Street early Wednesday.

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Suffolk Emergency Communications received a call for a moped accident in the 200 block of Pinner Street at 1:35 a.m. Wednesday.

According to a press release from Diana Klink with the City of Suffolk, when officers arrived they found a male moped rider face down in the roadway. He was unconscious, but breathing. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The preliminary investigation reveals the driver struck the curb, causing him to crash.

The victim was transported to Sentara Obici Hospital and then airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. His injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

The identity of the driver has not been released at this time.

Pinner Street was closed for a short time while police investigated the accident. The road reopened before 4 a.m.
