Hampton Waffle House robbed at gunpoint

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Hampton police say the Waffle House on West Mercury Boulevard was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday morning.

At 4:35 a.m., officers were called to the restaurant after getting a call from employees. The investigation revealed a man walked inside, showed he had a gun and demanded cash. When he got what he wanted, the suspect left on foot.

Police say there were no customers in the Waffle House, at the time of the robbery. No employees were injured.

The suspect is described as an African American man, who was about 6-foot-4, 205 pounds and 25 to 30 years of age. He was wearing a dark hooded jacket, black sweatpants, grey boxers and a black ski mask.
