NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The NFL draft begins on Thursday and several players with ties to Hampton Roads are expecting to hear their names called in Chicago.
Former Norfolk State linebacker Lynde Trail is one of them. The 6’7″, 260 pound transfer from Florida has pass rushing skills that have drawn the interest of several NFL teams. He played well in the Senior Bowl and he’s gotten positive feedback from some of the scouts.
“A lot of people feel like I’m athletic for my size, which I kind of agree with,” Trail said. “I kind of play out of place at linebacker, you don’t see a 6’7″ linebacker everyday.”
While Trail played linebacker in college, he’s a versatile player that even played wide receiver in goal line situations in college. Trail says he’s willing to play any position at the next level.
“To be able to transition from playing linebacker to defensive end, then to turn around and if the offense needs me to play tight end or receiver in the red zone, they find everything about that amazing.”
Trail has been training in Dallas with Cowboys Hall of Famer Randy White. He’s expected to be a middle to late round draft pick.
