CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Chesapeake police say two teenagers stole a vehicle from a local YMCA Wednesday evening and then led officers on a chase.

Around 6 p.m., an officer tried to pull over a vehicle in the 600 block of Greenbrier Parkway when the vehicle hit a curb. The officer believed the driver was impaired, according to Chesapeake Police Department Detective Dorienne Boykin.

A pursuit began. The suspect vehicle hit a parked car on Woodgate Commons and then traveled into a residential yard in the 1900 block of Devonwood Commons. It came to a stop after crashing into a fence.

Police later figured out the suspects, two teenage boys, had just stolen the vehicle from the Great Bridge YMCA on Battlefield Boulevard.

Det. Boykin said at least one suspect was still being questioned around 8 p.m. She said charges are pending for felony eluding police, reckless driving, and grand larceny.

No one was injured.
