Emergency Communications received the call at 12:17 p.m. advising of the accident in the 8000 block of S. Quay Road/Route 58, near Leafwood Road.

Investigators say there was a slow-moving farm vehicle in front of the pickup, and the tractor-trailer hit the pickup from the rear and forced it off the roadway. The tractor-trailer then came to rest against several trees on the right shoulder of the roadway.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was transported via Nightingale to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and the driver of the pickup was ground transported to Sentara Obici Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The right westbound lane in the area of the 8000 block of S. Quay Road was closed, but has since reopened.
