Bodies found in river as local crabbers remain missing

CAMDEN COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — Three bodies were found floating in Camden County rivers, and investigators believe they may be related to three local crabbers who went missing last week.

Just after 2:30 p.m. Monday, a boater spotted the body at the mouth of the North River, from the Pasquotank River. Then, around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, a second body was found by search crews in the Pasquotank River. According to Camden County Sheriff Tony Perry, a third body was found around 3:10 p.m. Wednesday in the Pasquotank River.

All three locations where the bodies were found are near Camden Point Shores, where Ismael Minh Smaell, Inguyen Khink Lung and Khiem Huynh were last seen leaving for a crabbing trip on a 25-foot yellow boat with a white cab.

Police haven’t confirmed the identity of the bodies. Right now they are at the local medical examiner’s office.

The boat the men were on has not yet been found. Search crews plan to go back to the area Wednesday to look for more more clues.
