Suffolk parents arrested after toddler found wandering streets

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Police have charged a couple with child neglect after their 3-year-old daughter was found wandering the streets.

Officers responded to a residence in the 140 block of Mahan Street in response to a child found wandering alone in the street, around 10 a.m. Thursday.

The 3-year-old’s parents, Gerald Jerrod Brown and Laquita Monique Flythe, were arrested on charges of abuse and neglect of children and cruelty and injuries to children.

Police say a family member took custody of the child.

Child Protective Services was notified and officials continue to investigate.
