Hampton homicide suspect arrested in Philadelphia

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — A man wanted for murder in Hampton was arrested in Philadelphia Tuesday.

Hampton Police said officers with the Philadelphia Police Department arrested 23-year-old Paris Marcellis Small for the homicide of 21-year-old Marcus Major of Hampton.

On March 11, Hampton police responded to a shooting in the 300 block of Brightwood Avenue. When police arrived, they found Major inside of a white Chevy Impala. He had been shot to death.

The investigation has revealed Small and Major were known to each other. According to police, Small and Major got into a verbal altercation and Small shot Major. There was a 19-year-old female victim who was not injured during the shooting.

Small, who lives in Newport News, was arrested in Philadelphia on April 21. He was charged with murder, attempt maiming, shooting into an occupied vehicle and two counts of use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

Small remains in custody in Philadelphia pending extradition.
