Norfolk offers $5 rabies shots for pets

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — If your cat or dog needs a rabies shot, Saturday is your opportunity! Norfolk’s health department is offering a rabies clinic.

The clinic will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the man Norfolk Health Center (830 Southampton Avenue), and it will cost $5 per animal.

Norfolk Department of Public Health spokesman Dwayne Merritt said all animals have to be at least 12-weeks-old. Cats need to be brought in carriers and dogs on leashes.

If you want a 3-year vaccine, you have to bring a previous rabies certificate for your animal. Otherwise, your animal will be given the 1-year vaccine.
