Hampton police searching for purse theft suspect

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Police in Hampton are looking for a man accused of physically assaulting a woman and running away with her purse.

The robbery happened in the 100 block of Whiting Street, Tuesday around 10:21 p.m.

Police say the man fled on foot and the victim did not require any medical attention.

The suspect is described as a black male with dark complexion, between the ages of 30-40 and between 6’2 and 6’4 tall. He was last seen wearing a light-colored hat, dark coat, dark pants and was carrying a backpack. Police say he also had ear buds in his ears.
