Driver hits light pole on Granby Street

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Norfolk police say a driver hit a light pole on Granby Street early Friday morning, snapping it in half.

According to police, the driver lost control and hit the pole shortly after 3 a.m. The SUV crossed the median and ended up on the wrong side of traffic.

Officers closed one lane on Granby Street near Willow Wood Drive while crews worked to clear the scene.

Police say the driver was not seriously hurt in the crash.

No word on what caused the driver to lose control.
