Suffolk city manager resigns, heads to Richmond

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Suffolk’s city manager has resigned and will be heading to the state capital to work as Richmond’s new chief administrative officer.

Selena Cuffee-Glenn sent her resignation letter to city council members Wednesday, explaining her acceptance of the position in Richmond and giving Suffolk a 30-day notice. She has served as Suffolk’s city manager since 2008.

Councilman Tim Johnson said, “We wish her the best … it’s a tough job. The city of Suffolk will be fine.”

Cuffee-Glenn has held a number of public-sector jobs in Richmond. Before moving to Suffolk, she was director of planning and community development for the Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority. She also worked for 15 years as a neighborhood planner for Richmond.
