Motorcyclist dies after crash on I-64 in Va. Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia State Police confirms one person has died after a two-vehicle crash at the Twin Bridges Wednesday morning.

Sgt. Michelle Anaya said a 2008 Ford Ecoline van was traveling west on I-64 in Virginia Beach when traffic began to slow and the driver made a sudden lane change. The van moved into the path of a 2004 motorcycle around 6:45 a.m.

Anaya said the motorcyclist lost control and the motorcycle went onto it’s side, ejecting the driver. The motorcyclist, 30-year-old Jonathan Hicks, of Chesapeake, died at the scene.

Charges against the Ford driver are pending the review of the local Commonwealth’s attorney.
