Detectives investigate Portsmouth gas station robbery

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Detectives with the Portsmouth Police Department are investigating the armed robbery of a Portsmouth gas station and convenience store, Sunday.

Police communications said they received a call shortly before 6 p.m. requesting assistance at the Miller Mart gas station on the 2700 block of Airline Blvd.

According to detectives, the suspect entered the store, displayed a handgun and demanded money. The clerk complied with the suspect’s demand and the suspect then fled on foot toward the city of Chesapeake on Airline Blvd.

The suspect is described as a black male, 6’2″, 180 pounds. He was wearing a gray and dark-colored hoodie with a fluorescent yellow stripe and dark-colored pants. He was armed with a black and silver handgun.

Anyone with information about the robbery or who can identify the suspect is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.

Callers are never asked to give their name or required to testify in court. If a caller’s tip leads to an arrest, the recovery of drugs or stolen property, they could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000.
