Hampton Fire Dept. responds to 5-acre brush fire

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – No injuries or structure damage was reported after Hampton Fire Department responded Friday to a five-acre brush fire that burned near Pelican Shores Drive and Tide Mill Lane.

Two crews from Hampton Fire Department responded to a call shortly before 11 p.m. as the fire burned mostly woods and marshlands, according to officials. They said the fire was possibly started from fireworks.

Crews got the fire under control around 2:30 a.m., but monitored the area for the remainder of the morning as wind hindered efforts earlier to eliminate the blaze.

No further information has been released.
