VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A Virginia Beach community honored a lost friend, Sunday.
Officers found 23-year-old Chastity Brown and her boyfriend Rory Nobriga dead inside a home on Old Virginia Beach Road. Police say the deaths are suspicious but they say they are not looking for any suspects.
Friends and family of Brown crowded the Oceanfront boardwalk as the sun went down. They carried a candle in one hand and a rose in the other as they said goodbye to a person they called royalty.
“She’s the queen of the beach, she knew everybody,” childhood friend Morgan Rosso said. “These aren’t even half the people she knew. She loved everybody and everybody loved her.”
The dozens of mourners walked to the water’s edge and shared memories of the person that brought them together.
“This was amazing, for all of us to get together, as sad as it is,” another friend Tori Brown said. “(It’s sad) this is how I have to see everybody that I haven’t seen in a long time.”
In a time when they needed comfort, they remembered a woman who always cared for them.
“If you were at the lowest point in your life, she would pick you up,” Rosso said. “She would give you whatever she had to make sure you were OK.”
They said their final goodbyes and each left a rose in her memory at the shores edge for their lost friend. A friend, whose death police are still investigating. Her death left more questions for these mourners as they get ready to pay their final respects.
Donations in her honor will be accepted at any Wells Fargo bank in Hampton Roads; the name is the Chastity Brown Memorial Fund.
