YORK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — Deputies charged a York County woman with child neglect after they say she was intoxicated when she had driven and left her two kids, ages 9 and 11, at a baseball game.

Lt. Ivey with the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office tells WAVY.com they responded to a call of possible child neglect on March 13, around 6:45 p.m. Police say the investigation reveled 32-year-old Kara Castle had been drinking when she dropped off her kids. Deputies say Castle also had a 9-month-old baby with her when she drove them there.

The children were found safe at the game by their father, whom they had called to let him know that they were there alone, said Ivey. Deputies then found Castle at her home, in the 4300 block of Declaration Drive, with the baby. They say she appeared to be very intoxicated.

Castle was arrested and charged with three counts of felony child neglect.

Deputies said the children were all fine and were turned over to their father.
