Police dispatchers got a 911 call around 5:15 p.m. about the incident in the 900 block of Kilby Avenue, according to Suffolk police spokeswoman Diana Klink. The preliminary investigation indicates a 4-year-old girl was hit in a private driveway by a Chevrolet Cobalt.

Klink said the child was airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with serious injuries. By Wednesday evening, Klink said the child was listed in stable condition at the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters.

The 25-year-old male driver stayed at the scene, according to police. Klink said the driver and child are not related.

Klink said no charges will be filed because the accident happened on private property, not public property.

No further information has been released. Stay with for updates on this developing story.
