BALTIMORE, MD (WAVY) – It’s not the postseason bid the College of William & Mary wanted, but it’s still a chance to play for a championship. With a 72-61 loss against Northeastern in the Colonial Athletic Association championship game, the Tribe fell short of their first ever trip to the NCAA Tournament and will instead have to settle for the National Invitational Tournament.
After a thrilling 92-91 double-overtime win over Hofstra in the semi-finals, William & Mary allowed another 12 3-pointers from the Huskies and played catch-up the entire game. “I thought Northeastern did a great job of executing, and we got out of character a little bit,” said Tony Shaver after the loss.
The Tribe will find out what seed they have for the NIT on Sunday.
