SUSSEX COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia State Police have arrested a North Carolina man after he allegedly fired shots at a tractor-trailer during a road-rage incident along the highway in Sussex County.
Police say the shooting happened on I-95 northbound at the 32 mile marker in Sussex County, Wednesday around 12:09 p.m.
According to police, 55-year-old Alton B. Parker and the driver of a 2006 Freightliner tractor-trailer began engaging with one another. At one point, Parker pulled up alongside the tractor-trailer and began shooting at the truck.
The tractor-trailer driver called State Police to report the incident and Parker’s vehicle, a 2015 Subaru Outback, was spotted exiting I-95 at the Carson Scales. The trooper stopped the Subaru on Route 301 north, say police.
Parker was charged with attempted murder in the second degree, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, shooting from a moving vehicle and maliciously shooting at an occupied vehicle.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
