NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Norfolk police have charged a woman after an SUV was recovered Friday morning from a body of water near Miller Store Road and Robin Hood Road.

Police dispatchers say they received the report of a car in the water around 7:30 a.m. Police confirmed there was no one inside the vehicle.

Officer Daniel Hudson said the department made contact with the owner, who notified police Thursday night that she had accidentally run off the road and into the water. The driver and a passenger were not injured and called for a ride home, Hudson said.

The woman who said she was driving the SUV Thursday night has been charged with alcohol related reckless driving.
