PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Elizabeth River Tunnels has planned single-lane closures for the eastbound tube of the Midtown Tunnel, starting next week.

The closures are part of ERT’s construction of the new Midtown Tunnel, and they need to work during the day for this part of the project, due to safety reasons.

Starting Monday, ERT will close the right lane of U.S 58 East (heading to Norfolk) at the tunnel and after the tunnel, through the West Brambleton Avenue exit ramp. The closures will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each weekday until the work is finished.
