ODU routs first place Louisiana Tech 72-53

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Trey Freeman’s 27 points helped Old Dominion to a 72-53 win over Louisiana Tech in front of more than 8,000 fans Saturday at the Ted Constant Center.

The Monarchs (20-6, 9-5 Conference USA) jumped out to an 11-0 lead over the Bulldogs (21-7, 12-3) and never trailed in the game.

Aaron Bacote scored 10 points and Jonathan Arledge and Jordan Baker added eight points apiece, the win was ODU’s 19th in-a-row at home.

“It was a great night for ODU basketball all the way around,” coach Jeff Jones said. ” I think this is probably the best performance we’ve had since we beat VCU here, the emotion was high, the level of play was high, it’s a nice feeling, I’ve been wondering where these guys have been, it was nice to see them step up in a big game.”

ODU next hits the road for a pair games in the Lone Star State, Thursday at Rice, followed by a Saturday showdown at North Texas.
