JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — Two people will learn their sentences in May in a murder for hire case.

John Wayne MacKay and Nicole Michelle Houchin pleaded guilty to a charge of first-degree murder, according to the Williamsburg-James City County Circuit Court clerk. As part of their plea agreement, prosecutors are no longer pursuing charges of accessory before the fact to capital murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Police say MacKay was having an affair with Houchin and that the couple and Nace Houchin conspired to kill MacKay’s wife, Dana, in 2013. She was found dead inside a home on Teal Way in James City County.

Nace Houchin was charged with first-degree murder. He’s set to stand trial in March.
