CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — More than 2,000 customers lost power in Chesapeake Wednesday night.
Dominion Virginia Power spokeswoman Bonita Harris said a utility pole in the 2200 block of Bainbridge Boulevard caught fire. Crews had to drop three circuits to safely make repairs, and that caused 2,500 customers to lose power.
Crews restored power for all, but 24 customers affected by 2:10 a.m. Thursday. The lights came back on for the remaining 24 at 4:07 a.m.
Harris said she did not know what caused the pole to catch fire.
