SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A Suffolk man won’t have to pay VDOT for guardrail damage from a crash 30 years ago.
10 On Your Side first introduced you to Carl Alexander two weeks ago. That was after he received a call from a VDOT collections agency saying he owed a few hundred dollars for guardrail damage from an accident decades ago.
But Alexander said he was never at fault for that crash — in fact someone else was charged — and he shouldn’t have to pay.
After 10 On Your Side started asking questions, VDOT confirms Alexander won’t have to pay. A VDOT spokeswoman said a thorough review was done and Alexander was never responsible for the crash.
VDOT says, if you have concerns about a bill or debt, you can write a letter to VDOT.
