Port of Virginia operates at profit for 6 consecutive months

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — The Port of Virginia says it has been operating at a profit for the past six months.

The port released its performance figures for the first half of the 2015 fiscal year on Tuesday.

The port finished the first six months of the fiscal year with an operating profit of $6.2 million, compared with an operating loss of $10.6 million in the same period in the previous year.

The port has steadily been increasing the number of cargo units that pass through its terminals. The port operates terminals in Norfolk, Newport News, Portsmouth, Richmond and Front Royal.
