Va. Beach twins sentenced to 13 years on drug, weapon charges

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Twin brothers from Va. Beach convicted of selling heroin, cocaine, crack cocaine and guns will spend 13 years in prison.

Matthew Vincent Deparasis, 30, was sentenced to 156 months in prison with five years of supervised release. He pleaded guilty in Sept. 2014. According to court documents, Deparasis and his twin brother, Nicholas, sold drugs and guns from various drug-involved premises, including an apartment on 11th Street in Virginia Beach. They used this area and others for about four years, a press release from the Department of Justice stated.

Nicholas Deparasis pleaded guilty in September as well. He was sentenced Jan. 21, two days before his brother, to 96 months in prison on the drug conspiracy charge and another 60 months for the charge of possessing a firearm in furtherance of, and using and carrying firearms during and in relation to one or more drug trafficking crimes.

The DEA teamed up with Virginia Beach police to investigate the case.
