VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A little bit of Las Vegas was in Virginia Beach Friday night, and it was all thanks to local baseball star David Wright.
There was full house at the Virginia Beach Convention Center for the 5th Annual Vegas Night, of which WAVY-TV and FOX43-TV are proud sponsors.
The New York Mets all-star third baseman is from Chesapeake. He holds this event every year to help sick kids at the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters in Norfolk.
“I’ve been visiting this hospital since I was 18-years- old, before I had the financial means and notoriety to put events on like this,” Wright told WAVY.com. “And I always told myself, if I make it, you know, I would be able to do these types of things … I’m just really, really privileged to work with such a great hospital.”
Last year, Vegas Night raised nearly $170,000 for CHKD.
